Aurora Cannabis and Ethypharm will continue their ongoing commitment to promoting access to medical cannabis for patients in France. The French General Directorate of Health (DGS) has once again selected Aurora Europe, a subsidiary of Aurora Cannabis, and Ethypharm as exclusive suppliers of dried medical cannabis flower for the French trial period, which has been extended until March 2024.

Under an agreement signed in October 2020, Canada’s Aurora and  France’s Ethypharm have been serving the French pilot program, led by the National Agency for the Safety of Medicines and Health Products (ANSM), a press release states. Aurora supplies medical cannabis and provides EU GMP manufacturing and logistics support, while Ethypharm’s French sales subsidiary, Ethypharm Laboratories, handles distribution and pharmacovigilance activities.

“Through our plans to make Aurora’s pharmaceutical-grade medical cannabis available in France, we aim to strengthen our expertise in Central Nervous System pathologies, particularly in pain treatment,” says Frederic Arnal, General Manager of Ethypharm Laboratories.

In January 2023, the DGS initiated a call for tenders to supply medical cannabis. Aurora Europe and Ethypharm were subsequently selected in March to continue supplying medical cannabis produced in accordance with European GMP standards to patients participating in the study.
