First Family of Oceanography Launches Cannabis Line SeaWeed Naturals

The grandson of famed ocean explorer, conservationist, filmmaker and researcher Jacques Cousteau has dived into California’s legal cannabis market. Philippe Cousteau and his wife Ashlan recently launched SeaWeed Naturals, offering a line of CBD-infused topicals and edibles blended with natural marine botanical derived from the Earth’s oceans.

The company says it set out to create an entirely new wellness category which combines seaweed and algae–rich in antioxidants, amino acids, vitamin C and collagen—with the healing properties of cannabis.

“When applied topically, seaweed and kelp have been proven to hydrate, minimize fine lines, promote collagen production, boost radiance, help relieve inflammation in skin, and reduce aging from environmental aggressors like pollution,” Philippe Cousteau said.

“When ingested, seaweed is a superfood and Omega 3 amino acids derived from algae have been proven to improve the health of your skin, organs, joints and bones, and crucially—your brain.”

SeaWeed Naturals principal founder Ashlan Gorse Cousteau is an explorer in her own right. As a journalist and television host, Ashlan travels the seven seas in search of stories that inspire love for nature. Her first book, “Oceans for Dummies,” is an introduction to the miracles of the ocean’s depths—its ecosystems, history, climate and sea life. It was thus only natural that Ashland turn her eye to the bounty of the blue planet’s seas to create SeaWeed Naturals’ Earth-inspired line of cannabis products.

Philippe Cousteau is a multiple Emmy-nominated TV host and producer, as well as an author, speaker and social entrepreneur. He has hosted several award-winning shows, including his long-running series “Going Green.” As a social entrepreneur, and following in the eco-minded footsteps of his famous grandfather, Philippe Cousteau’s conservation efforts are focused on solving global social and environmental problems.

In 2005, he founded EarthEcho International, a leading environmental education organization that is building a global youth movement to restore and protect our ocean planet. To date, EarthEcho has involved more than 2 million youths in 146 countries through its programs.

Both Cousteau and his wife say they were inspired to start SeaWeed Naturals after finding personal relief from pain and sleep-problems with cannabis and CBD wellness products.

“We now have our family, friends and colleagues using cannabis for aches, pains, inflammation, stress relief, help sleeping and more,” Ashlan said. “It truly is a wonder plant. And combined with the healing powers of seaweed, algae and kelp, it’s miraculous.”

SeaWeed Naturals promises to devote resources to restoring the globe’s oceans as a compliment to bringing natural CBD wellness products to customers. Combining the countless powers of marine botanicals with cannabinoids may make SeaWeed Naturals a cannabis company to watch for on the horizon.
