SpectrumLeaf and Voon Create Cannabis Pouches that Are Up to Snuff

Adding a cheeky new twist to CBD products, SpectrumLeaf has teamed up with Voon Innovation to create new hemp-infused “snus” pouches for oral consumption of cannabiniods.

Snus are a Swedish variant on dry snuff, traditionally a tobacco product consumed by placement between the upper lip and gum. Swedish snus emerged in the early 18th century and today’s nicotine-infused snus are banned in most European Union countries, but are legal in Sweden, Hungary, the United States and Canada.

The CBD-infused variants do not contain nicotine or THC, according to London, UK-based SpectrumLeaf and Helsingborg, Sweden-based Voon Innovation.

The partners are branding the new product as Voon Hemp Snus Pouches. They are a natural, vegan and smokeless cannabis alternative, according to Spectrum Leaf, which also sells Cannadips, a fast-acting, pouch-in-mouth CBD product that preserves important terpene and flavonoid compounds in its delivery system.

Voon Innovation is behind the technology used for the new Hemp Snus Pouches. A novel nanotechnology-based formulation developed by Voon enhances absorption and provides more efficient and faster bioavailability for users, the Swedish company said.

“The nanoparticles are so small that they can pass straight through biological membranes. Our novel formulation allows the hemp to be efficiently absorbed directly under your lip,” Voon Innovation co-founder Frank Svandal said.

While tobacco-based snus are banned throughout the EU, the partners hope the CBD version they’ve developed will be allowed in more countries.

“To truly create a hemp-based product suitable for our targeted markets, it was vital Voon hemp pouches had no THC, but were still able to deliver the offerings of hemp cannabinoids,” SpectrumLeaf CEO Felix Sundstrom said.

“Luckily, not only were we able to attain this with our unique technology, but we ensured that the ingredients were natural, vegan and free from gluten, soy and GMOs. Voon can easily be incorporated into a pouch user’s daily usage routine or can just be a smokeless alternative for existing CBD users.”

Voon Hemp Snus Pouches contain 20mg of hemp extract in each pouch. Each can comes with 15 pouches and there are four available flavors: Snazzy Tangerine, Wintergreen, Cool Spearmint and Pink Grape. Each can is lab tested with results accessible by consumers at getvoon.com.
