Ontario’s Agricultural Community Welcomes First CannabisWiki Event

Canada’s first annual CannabisWiki Conference and Expo is expected to draw cannabis industry leaders to London, Ontario for a two-day event from June 15-16 in southwestern Ontario’s agricultural epicenter.

Presented in partnership with the Western Fair District—a trade and consumer show exhibition facility outside of London—the conference will feature cannabis-related industry panel discussions, exhibitor booths and B2B networking opportunities to foster connections in the cannabis space. There will also be a concurrent virtual event produced in partnership with the Budtenders Association and other trade organizations.

Special themes for the conference will include sustainability of the industry, overcoming barriers to entry, achieving business sustainability as a licensed producer, and ways to counter stigmas surrounding cannabis.

Sponsors of the event include the Ontario-based arms of these organizations and companies:

  • The Budtenders Association
  • Entourage Health
  • White Ash Group
  • A&L Canada Labs
  • Indiva
  • Greenway Greenhouse

“As multi-generational members of the southwestern Ontario agricultural community and industry, [we] are proud to support opportunities for growth, innovation and collaboration in the region. This part of Canada is a traditional agricultural and trade hub [and] it’s inevitable and heartening to see cannabis cultivation weaved into that tradition,” Greenway Greenhouse CEO Jamie D’Alimonte said in a statement.

The conference will also feature a Cannabis Research Symposium hosted by Ontario’s Fanshawe College’s Centre for Research & Innovation (CRI). Fanshawe College is one of Ontario’s largest colleges and CRI’s mission is to foster innovation in the regional economy in southwestern Ontario and beyond. The symposium will focus on how private cannabis companies and research institutions like CRI can work together expand the cannabis trade in Canada.

CannabisWiki keynote speakers include the leaders of two Black-owned cannabis companies in Canada. CEO Ashley Athill and COO Michael Athill of Toronto-based HRVSTR Cannabis, a Health Canada-licensed craft cannabis cultivation facility, will presents talks, as will Steven Conville, CEO of Kronic Relief of Toronto, a privately held Canadian craft cannabis enterprise. Other speakers include Health Canada regulatory affairs officer Ika Washington and Hyde Advisory & Investments founder David Hyde.
Topics of the keynotes include business and licensing strategy, regulatory and policy approaches and successful business planning for cannabis operations.

“Hyde Advisory and CannaNavigators are delighted to be involved in CannabisWiki’s inaugural conference. … We’re proud to support the organizers in convening an event focused on industry education, best practices and other themes aimed at industry improvement and collaboration,” Hyde said.
