Olio Live Edibles Introduce Innovative Delivery System to Capture the Flower Experience

One problem cannabis consumers frequently note is the unpredictable, heady effects of edibles. Anyone who has doubted their dosage only to later experience a freight train wallop knows consuming edibles yields a decidedly different experience from flower. Smoking flower provides predictable effects due to a strain’s consistent, natural-occurring balance of cannabinoids and terpenes. The goal of many edible manufacturers has been to preserve that delicate balance.

Denver-based Olio, Colorado’s leading cannabis extraction brand, today announced the launch of Olio Live Edibles. The new line of edibles, crafted in partnership with Day Three Labs, a cannabinoid CPG ingredient manufacturer, promises a more predictable edible experience closer to flower.

Employing Day Three Labs’ Unlokt technology, the Olio Live Edibles launch marks the first time single-strain, fresh-frozen cannabis hash has been combined with a pharmaceutical-grade infusion technology for an all-natural, truly strain-specific edible.

“Without destroying naturally occurring terpenes and cannabinoids, Olio Live Edibles allow an edibles consumer to enjoy cannabis in its most complete form,” said Steve Morigi, brand product and process manager at Olio. “Being the first strain-specific edible to feature this innovative delivery system and Olio’s live rosin, the effects are like no other edible on the market.”

Using a natural protein to enhance absorption

With its headquarters in Denver and a pharmaceutical research lab in Israel, Day Three Labs specializes in novel cannabis product solutions. Most edibles on the market contain distillates stripped of natural cannabinoids and terpenes or employ emulsion techniques that can’t preserve them. The solventless rosin crafted by Olio retains the balance of key cannabinoids and terpenes, and Day Three Labs’ Unlokt technology packs the live rosin within a natural protein, creating a novel THC-protein complex. According to the Day Three Labs, the technique shuttles the rosin directly into the body’s circulation, bypassing the liver, thus protecting the cannabinoids and terpenes and allowing them to be released in their entirety.

“Unlokt leverages decades of pharmaceutical research and expertise and applies it to cannabis innovation that will soon replace emulsion-based delivery systems used by edibles manufacturers across the industry,” said Josh Rubin, co-founder and CEO of Day Three Labs. “We couldn’t think of a better partner than Olio, known for its top-of-the-line premium rosin and adherence to the highest industry standards, to bring the first cannabis edible with Unlokt technology to market. We believe consumers deserve the transparency and sophistication Unlokt offers for a safe, predictable and extremely enjoyable high that is clean, consistent and very functional.”

Experts in extraction

Olio Live Edibles with Unlokt hit shelves in select dispensaries across Colorado on July 8. The gluten-free gummies with all-natural flavors and ingredients come in a 10-pack (100mg THC) and are available in two flavor pairings: Blueberry & Strawberry and Green Apple & Watermelon — crafted by Olio’s in-house chef who earned his chops at some of Coloradoʼs and Philadelphiaʼs top restaurants.

Olio is an industry leader in cannabis extract innovation. With its roots in Colorado’s legal cannabis industry, Olio’s is expanding its national footprint — with products also on shelves in Massachusetts and New Mexico. Olio’s cannabis genetics library and exacting production standards have made it one of the most-awarded, widely recognized and sought-after cannabis brands in the modern market.
