Curaleaf Opens New Dispensaries in Arizona and Florida

Cannabis dispensary operator and product developer Curaleaf last week opened its ninth dispensary Arizona and 38th dispensary in Florida. The Curaleaf 48th Street outlet in Phoenix, AZ and Curaleaf Spring Hill in Spring Hill, FL become the company’s 112th and 113th dispensaries in the U.S., respectively.

The new Phoenix dispensary is located at 4730 South 48th Street, with approximately 5,000 square feet of space, including room for product education and exploration, Curaleaf said in a statement.

Curaleaf’s Arizona operations currently employ more than 600 people. Curaleaf 48th Street will employ 40 people, the company said.

Arizona voters passed a ballot initiative to legalize cannabis for recreational use in November 2020. The new law allows licensed sales of recreational cannabis products at dispensaries, individual possession of up to an ounce of cannabis and personal cultivation of up to six plants.

“Curaleaf was one of the first operators to begin serving adult-use customers in January of this year after Proposition 207 was passed by majority vote. Since then, all eight Curaleaf dispensaries in Arizona have seen more than an 80 percent increase in customer demand,” Curaleaf CEO Joe Bayern said.

Curaleaf’s new Spring Hill, FL outlet is located at 4287 Mariner Boulevard in the northern suburb of Tampa. It is the company’s fifth dispensary to open in Florida in 2021. Curaleaf now employs more than 1,000 people in retail and cultivation jobs in Florida in 2021, the company said.

“In addition to supporting Florida’s dynamic patient community, we are also proud to provide meaningful professional opportunities within the local cities we serve and to showcase cannabis’s wider positive social impact through our 38 dispensaries across the state,” Curaleaf regional president Matt Darin said.
