MJ Unpacked, the premier B2B and investment event for the cannabis industry, announced it is prioritizing social equity in the cannabis industry as it prepares to hold its event in New York City on April 26-28. The event at the New York Hilton Midtown brings together cannabis retailers, THC CPG brands and investors to drive the future of the industry and set the path in the next stage of market growth.
While the cannabis market is poised for growth on the East Coast, issues of social equity and inclusion persist. Minority ownership in the cannabis industry is estimated to be about 10%, which is half the number of minority-owned businesses in the general U.S. workplace. MJ Unpacked is actively addressing these disparities by providing a platform for diverse voices and businesses to showcase their products, connect with investors and industry leaders, and drive meaningful conversations around diversity and inclusion in the cannabis industry.
One of their main initiatives is the MJ Unpacked Social Impact Scholarship, a partnership with Our Academy, which supports BIPOC and justice-impacted cannabis entrepreneurs. The scholarship provides support for participation, fundraising opportunities, travel stipends, and administrative support. Since the start of the partnership, dozens of brands have been provided the opportunity to connect with investors, partners, and future clients.
MJ Unpacked is offering Social Equity Licensees 50% off their registration cost. For more information about MJ Unpacked, or to register, visit here.
