DECEMBER

MANAGEMENT This is the month to boost your holiday game. Do a 15-minute huddle with staff each morning to go over the previous day’s results, today’s goals and what’s coming up (sales and other promotions, product spotlights, etc.) Don’t leave money on the table during the holiday season!

IN-STORE Go over every surface and pane of glass in the shop to see that they are sparkling. Don’t let smudges sow seeds of doubt in your customers’ minds.

OPERATIONS December 29 is Tick Tock Day—the day to put a bow on any unfinished business for the year. It’s also a chance to look back at what you’ve achieved over another long slog in the cannabis trenches!

JANUARY

NETWORKING Start out strong in 2023 by building your business’s community presence. Join a country club or historical society to reach seniors. Sponsor a Little League baseball or softball team to meet parents. Now’s the time to let your neighbors know that the “pot store” is really a generous, engaged member of the community.

STRATEGY Up your market intelligence. Ask your customers where else they shop and what they like—and don’t like—about those competitors. Dispensary operators can also follow up on defections whenever possible. Shoot a text to patients who have left you for another dispensary, asking politely if there’s any way to win them back.

FEBRUARY

STAFF Share the love on Valentine’s Day. Gift your employees with a surprise present of chocolate edibles and personalized cards telling them what you love about their contributions to your business.

SALES Do you have “sales scripts” for floor staff? If so, rehearse them. If not, get to writing!
